Bengaluru rains: Girl washed away in rains a week before marriage

Bengaluru rains have created havoc due to continuous rains and a woman was washed away in rains as she was drowned in overflowing drain on Sunday morning.

With the girl’s death the Bengaluru rains dead toll reached 10. The deceased was identified as Narasamma aged 18 years and she was residing in Krishnappa Garden. The most shocking news of the woman’s death is that she was supposed to get married after a week.

This incident took placw when she went out for a nature’s call and accidentally fell into an overflowing drain. Her body was recovered some distance away from the slum area where she lived.

Her family hailed from Kalaburagi and worked as construction labourers. All those slum people blamed the local corporator who did not ensure basic facilities like toilets, drinking water supply and good sewage system.

bengaluru rainsRescue officials also recovered another woman’s body named Pushpa aged 22 years from a water-drain at Kumbalgod on Sunday morning. Pushpa along with her mother Ningamma were washed away in the water-drain after heavy rains slashed the city on Friday. Ningamma’s body is yet to be recovered.

Bengaluru Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that government have allocated Rs 800 crore for repair and drain network work. He added that he was living in Bengaluru since 1983 and have never experienced such heavy rains and added that the drainage system does not have the capacity to bear the rain water as it has been raining for 46 days.
