Canadian billionaire Barry Sherman, wife Honey found dead in mysterious circumstances

Barry Sherman death news : Canadian police have launched a probe into the deaths of pharma company Apotex founder Barry Sherman and his wife Honey Sherman, whose bodies were found under mysterious circumstances in their residence in Toronto on Friday afternoon.

Post-mortem studies were carried out on Saturday after the cops had deemed the deaths to be unnatural, as reported by Reuters.

A couple of Canadian newspapers citing their sources in the police department wrote that the cops were probing the deaths of the billionaire businessman and his wife in both murder and suicide angles.

The Globe and Mail and Toronto Sun reported that the bodies of the couple were found hanging near the swimming pool of their mansion.

As per the newspapers, investigators are probing whether the 75-year-old Barry Sherman murdered his wife and hung her dead body before hanging himself from a railing at the swimming pool.

It was in 1974 that Barry Sherman established Apotex as a generic drug company which claims in its website to have registered annual sales of over CAD2 billion with operations in over 45 countries.

Apotex released a stament on the tragic death of its founder, which read: “Dr. Sherman gave his life to the singular purpose of our organization – innovating for patient affordability.

“Patients around the world live healthier and more fulfilled lives thanks to his life’s work, and his significant impact on healthcare and healthcare sustainability will have an enduring impact for many years to come.

“As employees, we are proud of his tremendous accomplishments, honored to have known him, and vow to carry on with the Apotex purpose in his honor.”

The company currently employs over 11,000 employees globally.

Barry Sherman quit from the Apotex CEO post in 2012 but stayed in the business as chairman. He was embattled in a number of lawsuits including one which was filed by his cousins more than ten years ago for allegedly removing them out of Apotex for his personal growth.

Barry Sherman was born to a Jewish family and is survived by four children.

The Sherman family appealed to the Toronto Police Service to hold a thorough, intensive and objective criminal probe into the deaths of their parents Barry Sherman and Honey Sherman. They also requested the media to stop from reporting further on the deaths the probe is completed.

The Family of Barry and Honey Sherman, in a statement said: “Our parents shared an enthusiasm for life and commitment to their family and community totally inconsistent with the rumors regrettably circulated in the media as to the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

“We are shocked and think it’s irresponsible that police sources have reportedly advised the media of a theory which neither their family, their friends nor their colleagues believe to be true.”
