Darjeeling unrest news : Women demand for separate Gorkhaland state

The women wings of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha and the Gorkha National Liberation Front got together to hold a protest pressing for the demand of a separate state for Gorkhaland on Saturday as per the latest Darjeeling unrest news.

Carrying flags around, the women protestors shouted slogans like “We want Gorkhaland’ while marching along the streets of the Chowk Bazar area in Darjeeling.

The tourist hill town continues to burn as there doesn’t seem to be any dying down of the intensity of the agitation carried out by thousands of locals in the last few days.

Darjeeling, one of the major tourist spots in the country, especially in summers has been rocked by daily strikes and protests to voice their displeasure to the Mamata Banerjee’s West Bengal government.

The local Gorkhaland community have also been fighting tooth and nail against the alleged forcing of Bengali language on their school students.

On Friday, the Calcutta High Court ordered the central government to deploy four more companies of CRPF in two days time in Darjeeling to curb the ongoing violence in the hill town.
