Shooter Heena Sidhu wins gold in Commonwealth Shooting Championships

Shooter Heena Sidhu won gold in the women’s 10m Air Pistol event at the Commonwealth Shooting Championships at Brisbane on Tuesday.

Heena Sidhu scored 240.8 to beat Elena Galiabovitch of Australia who shot 238.2. Elena settled for silver and Kristy Gillman won bronze who is also from Australia and she shot 213.7.

Heena Sidhu has been showing her terrific form this year as she won gold at the ISSF World Cup final in New Delhi earlier this month when she was paired with Jitu Rai in the event for India. The pair finished with 483.4 points and defeated France with 481.1.

Heena Sidhu wins her third gold with Jitu Rai and the duo had claimed the top spots in the same event at the ISSF World Cup in Delhi in February and ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol Series in Gabala, Azerbaijan.

Heena Sidhu had won bronze in the women’s 10 air pistol event at the Grand Prix of Liberation Plaza Shooting Championships in May this year which took place in the Czech Republic after she gained 218.8 points in the eight-woman final, in an event which was won by Rio Olympic gold and bronze medalist Anna Korakaki of Greece.
